Editorial policy

Our aim is to explain information applicable in Latvia without overstating editorial expertise or replacing individual professional care.

Core principles

We favour verifiable primary sources, show authorship and dates, connect material claims to sources and state uncertainty clearly. Emergency directions are direct, and our content never provides an individual diagnosis.

Four-step checking workflow

1. Question and Latvian context

We define the intended audience, which rules or services apply in Latvia, and where information may change.

2. Primary-source comparison

We prioritise current information from the responsible authority. For health topics, we compare Latvian health institutions with relevant international organisations.

3. Editing and safety check

We check that claims are supported by the cited source, emergency actions are clear, and the text does not offer a diagnosis or individual treatment.

4. Date, author and ongoing monitoring

Each article states editorial authorship and the content-update and source-check dates. Material errors are documented in the public corrections log.

Source priority

Where sources differ, priority goes to the institution responsible for that service or rule in Latvia. A secondary explanation cannot override current legislation or instructions from a healthcare provider.

  1. Responsible Latvian authorities and healthcare providers: vmnvd.gov.lv, vsaa.gov.lv, spkc.gov.lv, bkus.lv, latvija.gov.lv, likumi.lv
  2. Primary sources from international health organisations: who.int

Medical-expert review

An editorial source check is not a clinical review. We use “reviewed by a medical professional” and reviewedBy structured data only when a real, identifiable person or organisation has actually reviewed that specific material.

Digital and AI-assisted tools

Digital tools may help structure, translate or edit a draft, but they are not authors with professional credentials and they are not medical reviewers. The MamaSet.lv editorial team remains responsible for the published text, source selection and corrections.

Updates and corrections

“Updated” marks a content change; “sources checked” marks the last editorial review of links and current context. Material factual corrections are logged publicly. Style, formatting and spelling changes are not added to the log.
